Before my launch of something special, I kinda need something cool. I need a logo and I need new wallpaper (that brown one sucks). The logo needs to represent Webcomics Anonymous somehow and will be in the space in the top left corner. The image needs to be 378 x 111. A tight space but... any suggestions???

Also, the background, what could brighten up the page???

Making It Dark

How do I make these darker? I LOVE the tree but the pages don't look dark, it looks - mild. I love the way the book page works, but the links at the top just don't do it for me... though the mini-tree at the bottom is cute.

100th Strip
http://www.gueststripproject.co.uk

Yep the Guest Strip Project has finally made it to the 100th strip, in the spirit of Christmas we not only launch our second Donationathon but also for this month only the Kid's Book Project is only £4 and every single penny of that goes straight towards the Make-A-Wish Foundation. No profit is made from this whatsoever!

The 100th strip goes to a fantastic artist called Jamie Smart who not only appears in the DFC (a magazine in the UK aimed at children and is subscribing online) but also does his own webcomics and has a website http://www.fumboo.com. As all donationathon's have a unique range of artists, this one is no different, this time also incorporating our first non-webcomic artist as well as a few more surprises up our sleeves.

Don't forget though, the Guest Strip Project only has 4 more months left before it finally ends so if you want to be a part, you don't have long left to go. Only 59 artists left to produce work... is your name down???

Thank you all for your support through our previous months and our months to come. Let's raise the roof on donations!!!

Guest Strip Project - Christmas Donationathon

John Hageman Me

In April 2008 The Guest Strip Project launched it's doors, only for one year. It would raise money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation with ads, donations and upcoming merchandise. Five months remain...

This Christmas, we're doing another Donationathon. On the 1st December is our 100th strip and that spot could go to you. If you haven't already contributed to the Guest Strip Project all you need to do is a Christmas strip and be one of the 31 artists, webcomic artists or even just fans. As long as you can pick up a pencil, that's all we need!

Send your entries to moovok@yahoo.com and who knows, you could be the 100th strip of the Guest Strip Project - A feat in itself!

The strip must be 700 x 221, in a gif format and have a Christmas theme including one (or all) of our characters. Don't forget in your email to include your website you want to be linked to and let's raise some much needed funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation! Hurry fast, we only need 31 strips!

I'm in need of one final artist to do a random strip (as long as it involves the characters of the Guest Strip Project - http://www.gueststripproject.co.uk)

The strip has to be 700 x 221, gif format. If you've already done a strip for the project, you can't do another (sorry, you only get one chance in it).

I need it today! So if you haven't done one yet and have a little spare time, could you do a strip and email me at moovok@yahoo.com

Thanks peeps!!!!

Cub Leader Images

  • Jun. 21st, 2008 at 9:14 AM
John Hageman Me
I'm a Cub Leader (Akela to be precise) and I'm going to be getting a few caps for our Leaders to wear when we're out and about but unfortunately nobody seems to do all the Leader's names that we have, there's always one missing (and usually the one who will complain if she doesn't have one). So I wondered anyone willing to draw a 2 inch x 2 inch picture (which will include the name underneath) of 5 Leader's:

Akela (occasionally called The Lone Wolf or Big Fox) is a fictional character featured in Rudyard Kipling's Mowgli stories collected in The Jungle Book and The Second Jungle Book. He is a wolf, chief of the Seeonee wolf pack and presides over the pack's council meetings. It is at such a meeting that the pack adopts the human cub Mowgli as one of its own and Akela becomes one of Mowgli's mentors. Akela means "alone" in Hindi, Urdu, and Punjabi.

Hathi is a fictional animal character created by Rudyard Kipling for the Mowgli stories collected in The Jungle Book (1894) and The Second Jungle Book (1895). Hathi is a male elephant that lives in the jungle. Kipling named him after hāthī (हाथी), the Hindi and Sanskrit word for "elephant". Hathi is head of the elephant troop. He is one of the oldest animals of the jungle and represents order, dignity and obedience to the Law of the Jungle. He is mentioned, or possibly in "Kaa's Hunting. In "How Fear Came" he tells the jungle animals' creation myth and describes Tha, the Creator.

Raksha (or Mother Wolf as initially named) is a fictional character featured in Rudyard Kipling's Mowgli stories, collected in The Jungle Book and The Second Jungle Book. She is a female wolf, member of an Indian pack, who while suckling her own cubs decides also to adopt a human "cub" that her mate Father Wolf has found wandering in the jungle, naming him "Mowgli" (which means "frog" in the Speech of the Jungle) because of his hairlessness. Defying the tiger Shere Khan who is determined to eat the man-cub, she reveals that her name is Raksha (which means "protection") because of her ferocity as a fighter, and she will fight to the death for any of her cubs, natural or adopted.

Rikki-Tikki-Tavi (or Rikki for short) is a short story in The Jungle Book (1894) by Rudyard Kipling about the adventures of a valiant young mongoose. The story is of a young mongoose, called Rikki-Tikki, soon finds himself confronted by two dangerous, murderous cobras. Rikki's first true battle is with Karait, a dust brown snakeling who threatens the boy (Teddy). Although Rikki is inexperienced and the snake, because of its deadly venom and small size, is an even more dangerous foe than a cobra, the mongoose defeats him. With Rikki fighting a few more snakes, he is victorious, Rikki spends the rest of his days defending the family garden where no snake would dare enter.

Baloo is the fictional "sleepy old grey bear" featured in Rudyard Kipling's The Jungle Book and The Second Jungle Book. The name Baloo is derived from the Hindi word for "bear": bhālū from Sanskr. bhallūka; this is possibly a dialect form for bhalnū-ka < bharṇū-ka, from a word meaning brown: cf. sw. björn, OHG. bero, bear. The genuine word for bear is nevertheless ṛ́kṣa, like Grk. árktos (cf. arctic), Lat. ursus, Arm. arǰ. Baloo teaches the cubs of the Seeonee wolf pack the Law of the Jungle. His most challenging pupil is the "man-cub" Mowgli; despite Bagheera's objections he sometimes finds it necessary to use corporal punishment against Mowgli, although when called upon to defend the man-cub against the Bandar-log he does not hesitate.

So I just need Akela, Hathi (my assistant leader), Raksha, Rikki and Baloo if that's possible. Anyone interested?

I must admit I've gained a lot of webcomic artists as friends, or at least they know my name especially when my emails come around asking for help. Chris Simmons is one such man who heed my call and jump on mostly anything I'm doing. He's also good at doing it too!

Does anyone know how to do an RSS feed for the Guest Strip Project?

Don't forget the Guest Strip Project is doing this all for the Make-A-Wish Foundation so visiting you're helping, clicking on the banners you're helping and soon buying stuff from the store will help even more, so don't forget to read and enjoy!

AUGUST DONATIONATHON

John Hageman Me
In July I'm gathering 31 artists to draw 31 strips (not each, one per artist) in a stand-alone strip using the characters of the guest strip project that can be used in August to help our Donation Drive that we're having!

It'll be our first one and weirdly enough I'm after artists who haven't already signed up to the project. So far I have 13 artists wanting to be a part of our first Donationathon and you too can be a part.

Just email me regarding the Donationathon or comment below. These are the people already doing the Donationathon (btw if you've signed up already to the project you'll be doing it more than likely either before or after the Donationathon):

Sean Boyle
Jason Frazer
Chris Wall
Mark Savary
Amanda Harpold
Matt Milligan
David Adams
Jules Rivera
Geof
Phil Foglio
Liam Cruse
Mike Dean
John Briggs

Be a part of it and sign up now, I need 31 artists!!!!

I love Sarah Ellerton's art, it's amazing and fantastic and very detailled so when she said she'd be happy to contribute she did wonders with it. One of my favourites!

Calling all artists

Actually calling those who haven't signed up or know of their name down on my list for the Guest Strip Project. For the whole of August I'm after 31 artists, good, bad, ugly I don't really care, but you must have a webcomic or a website dedicated to your craft.

I'm after filling the whole month of guest strips (all stand-alone), so if you're interested or know of someone please let me know. Also those who have already signed up, don't worry, you won't be forgotten, you'll be called up before long.

Anyway, if you're free and able to draw a strip during the month of July then let me know. I need 31 of you!!!

ALSO, on a personal note, could someone do a cel-shading of a snowman for me. Just wanna see what it looks like and if it's any good for what I want.

To be honest, when I first heard the name I thought Rene Engström was a man, unbeknown to me she was a fantastic artist I had been admiring from a far, a bit like Meredith Gran. I was glad when she said yes, but she was worried it was a little rushed but I thought it came out great!

I've been a fan from the side lines of Welcome to Pixelton's guy Josh Farkas but he does so well in continuing on the current storyline to the tale. Just some wonderful stuff including how he makes each strip.
